About Zoomcar Zap Subscribe
Zoomcar are primarily a self-drive rental company, but the Zoomcar Zap Subscribe service is growing across India. As of 2020, the service is available in Hyderabad, Chennia, Delhi NCR, Vadodara, Pune, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chandigarh, Bangalore, Jaipur, and 19 other cities. The subscription service starts at a one-month minimum term and goes up to 24 months, including an option to buy and extend. There is also a car share service, which allows you to hire out your Zoomcar through one of their platforms in order to generate revenue.
How it works
Zoomcar’s subscription service allows you to choose from a range of vehicles and choose a subscription duration from 1 to 24 months (1, 2, 3, 6, 12, or 24). Zoomcar arrange the insurance, and cover maintenance and service, for which you can book via the app. Some cars also allow you the option of buying the vehicle when the subscription ends. It only takes 12 hours to verify ID and cars are then delivered to you.
Zoomcar also offer a sharing service, whereby you can remarket your car on the Zoomcar platform. This allows you to generate revenue when you aren’t using it – up to 75% if you include petrol. You can relist or remove your vehicle at any point for no charge.
Costs and fees
Customers must pay a security deposit but this, and the first month’s payment, can be made in different ways:
- 4999 INR up front, the rest on delivery
- 4999 INR up front, the rest “later” (to be determined)
- Deposit and first month up front (this makes you a priority customer for delivery)
Subscription fees start at 26,499 per month (or 19,999 INR on the sharing scheme) and go up to over 35,000 per month. The longer the term you sign up for, the lower the monthly cost. There are penalties for cancelling withing the lock-in period, and these are pro-rated.
If you decide to use the car sharing service, you make 60% revenue if you don’t include fuel, and 75% if you do.
Brands and models
Zoomcar offer a wide range of cars, covering manual and automatic, petrol, diesel, and electric, and hatchbacks, sedans, SUVs, and MUVs. Some of the main brands and models offered are:
- Maruti Suzuki – Breza, Swift MT, Swift AT
- Mahindra – Marazzo, Scorpio, XUV AT, E20 (electric)

Every subscription with Zoomcar has a stated lock-in period, so a penalty charge would be applicable if you wanted to cancel your subscription and return your car within that period. However, you can still do so, at any time, by just notifying the company on the app.
