About Revv Open
Revv is a major car rental and subscription service operating across twenty-two major cities in India. The company offers hire, flexible short and long-term subscriptions, and subscription options specifically for Hyundai and Mahindra. The open subscription service provides car-specific monthly costs on both brand new and barely used “unboxed” cars, with insurance and tax included. Revv provide an All India Tourist Permit with every subscription so you can drive your car throughout the country.
How it works
The Revv Open subscription is available on an app or via the main website. The sign-up process includes an ID and work check, but there is no CIBIL (Credit Information Bureau (India) Ltd)) check. Eligibility varies slightly depending on if you are subscribing to a new or an unboxed car, as does the deposit. The lead time for a new car can be as little as 14 days. Once you have taken delivery, you are free to drive with the following inclusions/restrictions:
- 2,000kms per month with a 3-rupee discount on extra mileage if it is ordered in advance
- You pay for fuel
- Servicing, roadside assistance, insurance, and tax are covered by the subscription
- You can allow other drivers to use the car, but it remains your responsibility
Costs and fees
There is no down payment with Revv, and deposits are variable but for unboxed cars there is a fixed deposit of 10,000 INR. You can choose to pay 2000 INR up front and a further 8000 INR with your first month’s subscription cost to give a bit more flexibility. Insurance, tax, roadside assistance, and servicing are all included in the subscription cost, leaving fuel as your only additional outlay.
- The typical insurance excess is 10000 INR
- If you choose to buy the vehicle, Revv will generate a settlement fee
- Monthly fees range from 22,199 INR for a Hyundai Santro
Brands and models
Revv Open’s variety of cars varies slightly depending on the city you are in, but you can get Maruti, Hyundai, and Mahindra models everywhere, and Tata, Honda, Nissan, Ford, or Toyota in some locations.
You can choose a hatchback, sedan, or SUV/MUV, with both diesel and petrol options, and manual and automatic models, available. Brands include Hyundai (Santro, Elite), (Maruti (Swift), Honda (Amaze, City) and Mahindra (Marazzo, XUV300).
Notice periods
Subscriptions with Revv Open are on a monthly basis paid in advance. If you wish to return your vehicle, you should give Revv 3 weeks’ notice, which you can do via your app or over the phone.
What is special about Revv Open?
The availability of Revv, combined with generous mileage and an inclusive All India Tourist Permit make it an attractive service as it has few restrictions. There are plenty of cars to choose from with several price points and no CIBIL check, making it accessible to millions of people. The option to choose a brand-new car will be appealing, too, as will the option to buy brand new cars if you like them at the end of your subscription. This effectively allows people to use Revv as a paid, extended try before you buy service.

They don’t overcharge up front or perform rigorous checks that might exclude large swathes of the population, either. And, of course, the option to buy a brand-new car after having tried it through the monthly subscription service, is a draw to many customers who like to take their time before making a choice on a large purchase such as a car.
