MyChoize Self-Drive is a car subscription service provided by ORIX. ORIX is headquartered in Japan, where it is the second-largest subscription service in the country and manages a fleet of over 60,000 cars. Now available in Bangalore, Pune, Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Jaipur, Indore, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, Surat Vadodara, Ludhiana, Amritsar, Bhopal Goa, Dehradun, Rishikesh and Haridwar, you can choose from 25 different vehicles, including SUVs and luxury cars, with a minimum rental of just 24 hours. You also get unlimited mileage with each subscription vehicle.

How it works

The entire MyChoize service works through the app in four steps:

1. Search and choose the vehicle you want
2. Upload scans of your driver’s license and ID document (passport / Aadhar card)
3. Take delivery of your car, either to your home address or a pick-up point, depending on your location
4. Arrange for return when you want/need to. Your security deposit is refunded when you return your vehicle, or you can choose another hire. Extensions are also possible with 4 hours’ notice minimum.

As with competitor subscription options, your subscription cost includes insurance, maintenance, and roadside cover. You just pay for fuel, with no limits to mileage.

Costs and fees

The refundable security deposit is a flat 6000 INR across all car types and contract lengths and is refundable immediately upon return of the vehicle. Rental charges range from 1200 INR per day for a small hatchback with a 120-km limit, and from 19,499 for a longer-term subscription. There is a schedule of charges both for traffic violations and for damages, ranging from 300 INR as a late return charge (per hour), up to 11000 INR for broken fog lamps on luxury SUVs. The standard insurance excess is 6000 INR per claim.

What do I do if I have a crash?
If you have an accident or break down, you must let MyChoize know within four hours. If you phone their office, they will take care of everything.

Is fuel included with MyChoize?
When you get your vehicle, there will be a certain amount of fuel in it. When it comes to returning the vehicle, if you return it with less fuel than it came with, you will be charged for the difference.

What’s the minimum booking term?
The minimum term is 24 hours, but you can also subscribe for a week or a month.

If I need to extend my subscription, how do I do it?
You can extend your subscription by contacting MyChoize. For extensions, you must get in touch a minimum of four hours before the term is due to end.

Does MyChoize give discounts for early returns?
No. You pay for the term you agreed upon, and while returning early can be arranged, you won’t get any money off for doing so.
